Planning a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska? Make sure to leave time for a visit to the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum! Located on the Wedgewood Resort grounds, the museum features a plethora of historically significant, pre-World War II cars, gorgeous vintage clothing, and more that will transport you back to simpler times.
Visit this renowned museum to see Alaska’s first car and explore the state’s motoring history through exhibits, photographs and videos.
To set the scene, historic photos and videos are displayed that showcase Alaska as it emerges out of the early 20th century. The museum even shows off “alternative” vehicles such as early steam, electric and hybrid cars, horse drawn carriages and the first V16-powered engine. The exhibit holds over 80 vehicles, including rarities like the 1906 Compound, 1921 Heine-Velox Victoria, and more. Very few of the cars have ever been driven making it an Alaskan attraction to break out the camera for.
The museum also showcases vintage clothing and guests can see firsthand how much fashion has changed over the course of eight decades.
The collection holds over 130 dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories. It’s easy to imagine yourself as a beaded flapper in the 20’s or in a classic evening gown upon viewing these gorgeous creations.
